Nikki Bella files a restraining order against Artem Chigvintsev and gives a detailed account of the domestic violence incident

Nikki Bella (Garcia) has filed for a restraining order against Artem Chigvintsev.

On Monday, a local judge approved the WWE Hall of Fame legend's restraining order against her “Dancing with the Stars” husband after he was arrested for an alleged domestic violence incident.

As previously mentioned, the situation has resulted in Bella filing for divorce from Chigvintsev in addition to the aforementioned restraining order against him.

Below, courtesy of TMZ.com, is Nikki's detailed version of the domestic violence incident involving Artem, herself and her child:

Nikki claims she was so “overwhelmed by Artem's yelling that she threw Artem's toddler size 7 Matteo shoes.” She says the shoes hit his leg but couldn't have hurt him because they were so light. She says Artem grabbed Matteo and ran upstairs with him as the boy screamed, “Mom! Mama!”

She says when she tried to get into the room, Artem opened the door and threw her to the ground in front of Matteo's room. She says he grabbed her arms and pinned her to the floor for what felt like 30 seconds.

She says Artem then went back into Matteo's room and closed the door – and she says she tried to push the door open again and he then opened it and pushed her across the hallway into the couple's bedroom, causing her was forced to the floor in the bathroom. She says he placed his hands on her chest near her sternum and pressed down – she says she felt like she was suffocating – and she says she grabbed him by the neck to try to get rid of him.

The police came and Matteo told them: “Dad hurt my hand.”

She also claims that Artem has been physically violent before. She says he “forcibly grabbed me around my waist” in mid-2023 to keep her away from Matteo. She also claims that there were numerous instances of verbal abuse. She says she doesn't want her son to grow up in an environment as turbulent as she did. Nikki wants Artem to get the help he needs with therapy and anger management – and for her and Matteo to have enough distance from him until he gets better.

Pursuant to Bella's restraining order mentioned above, the judge prohibited Chigvintsev from contacting or approaching her, her son and her home, or coming within 100 meters of her, her son and her home, except for visits or the exchange of the child as part of court-ordered visits.

Regarding the restraining order, Bella's reps issued the following statement to TMZ:

“Due to the incident that led to Artem’s arrest on August 29, 2024, Nikki has decided to file for a temporary domestic violence restraining order to protect herself and her son. Although Nikki requested that the Napa District Attorney not file charges against Artem because she did not want him to go to prison, he still needs to be held accountable for his actions and Nikki and her son need to be protected. Nikki's top priority has always been her son's well-being. She is grateful for all the love and support she has received and continues to request privacy for her and her family during this difficult time.”
