Borussia Dortmund players are reportedly facing fines of €100 (£83) per minute for late arrivals. High-profile players like Karim Adeyemi, Pascal Gross and Julian Brandt could rack up big bills if they don't show up on time for training, physiotherapy or coaching meetings.

On match days or if a player misses a scheduled club event, fines can rise to €3,000 (£2,499) and €5,000 (£4,166) respectively. Jürgen Klopp introduced a list of fines in 2009 and, according to German publication Bild, former Liverpool midfielder and current Dortmund coach Nuri Sahin has maintained these rules despite fines increasing significantly over the last 15 years.

The club appears to place a strong emphasis on etiquette, ensuring that certain tasks are carried out and that players interact with each other. Fines of 100 euros are imposed for the use of mobile phones at the dining table, during physiotherapy sessions or when carrying out club tasks.

Players are also expected to maintain cleanliness standards and dress appropriately. The fine is €100 for leaving the training area untidy or littered with equipment and €250 for wearing incorrect clothing.

Players could reportedly face hefty fines of €2,000 (£1,666) if they fail to sign autograph cards for fans by a set deadline, and failure to sign their shirts could face a €500 (£416) fine become. However, missing a weigh-in session is punishable by a lesser fine, with the offense reportedly costing the player €250 (£208), according to the Mirror.

The leaked list of fines appears to be from the 2023/24 season, when Edin Terzić led the team to the Champions League final and new coach Sahin is keen to maintain those standards. The German powerhouse has won three of its first five home games and got off to a perfect start to the Champions League with wins against Club Brugge and Celtic.

Several lists of fines have been leaked in recent years, including Aston Villa's in 2022. Penalties for lateness were even harsher, with players fined £500 for being late for training and £200 per minute if they arrived late to the field.

A strict punctuality policy also resulted in a £1,000 fine for those late for a meeting, walk or to see the coach on match day. There was also a fine of £200 per minute for being late to the coach or to a meeting on match days.
