Oklahoma country star Garth Brooks is accused of sexual harassment and assault

Country music star Garth Brooks released a statement Thursday regarding sexual assault and assault allegations made public on Thursday.

In the statement, Brooks said:

“For the past two months, I have been endlessly plagued with threats, lies and tragic stories about what my future would be if I did not write a multi-million dollar check,” Brooks said. “It was like a loaded gun was being waved in my face. Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my eyes, this means that I am admitting to behavior that I am not capable of – ugly actions that are not humane.” We filed a lawsuit against this person almost a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation. I want to continue tonight Our good deeds for the future break my heart. I trust the system, I'm not afraid of the truth and I'm not the man they made me out to be.

Brooks was accused of sexual assault and battery in a lawsuit filed Thursday in California, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday.

The complaint from “Jane Roe,” who says she worked as a hairdresser and makeup artist for Brooks, says the alleged incidents occurred in 2019.

The complaint alleges that Jane Roe worked for Brooks' wife in 1999, but also began working for Brooks in 2019.

Jane Roe alleges that Brooks became aware that Roe was in financial trouble and used his continued extra income to take advantage of it.

What does the complaint say?

The complaint alleges that Brooks took advantage of Roe's financial difficulties. Roe claims Brooks sexually assaulted her on a trip to Los Angeles in 2019.

Roe claims Brooks brought her alone on his private plane and booked a single hotel room for her. There, Roe claims that Brooks sexually abused her.

Brooks was accused of regularly discussing sexual objects, changing clothes before Roe, sending explicit text messages and frequently making sexually explicit comments.

The complaint also alleges that Brooks groped Roe on a separate trip to Los Angeles in October 2019.

The complaint notes that because of the frequency of his alleged actions, “it is inevitable that other Brooks employees probably saw or heard it.”

Roe claims she was unable to continue working for Brooks and moved out of state around May 2021.

Roe also claimed that when her attorney contacted Brooks to disclose that she was prepared to file a complaint, Brooks allegedly filed a pre-emptive abuse lawsuit against Roe on September 13, 2024. The filing, under the name “John Doe,” calls the allegations “completely untrue.” The complaint says she threatened to publicly sue him if he didn't give her millions of dollars.

Brooks is accused of assault, battery and sexual battery.
