Man arrested for attempted murder after argument in Sonora Park

A man was arrested Thursday after an argument turned physical at a park, Sonora police said. Officers responded around 9:30 a.m. to a report of a fight at Woods Creek Park. When officers arrived, police said the two men were no longer fighting. Officials said the suspect and victim knew each other. They had gotten into an argument over a previous incident. Sonora police said the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Nicholas Goodwin of Columbia, pulled out a knife and attempted to stab the victim. The victim was able to fend off the knife attack, officials said, but then Goodwin grabbed a PVC pipe and struck the victim with it several times while making criminal threats. Officials said the victim was taken to an area hospital because his injuries were not life-threatening. Goodwin was arrested and taken to the Tuolumne County Jail where he is charged with attempted murder. Do you have photos or videos of an incident? If so, upload it to KCRA.com/upload.
