Georgia beauty queen Lindsay Shiver's former lover, Terrance “Adrien” Bethel, claims no one wanted Robert Shiver dead

The accused accomplice and alleged lover of a Georgia beauty queen claimed Thursday that he was innocent and that “nobody wanted” her then-estranged husband to die in the alleged contract killing in the Bahamas.

Lindsay Shiver's ex-boyfriend Terrance “Adrien” Bethel was arrested along with mother of three and alleged killer Faron “Faylo” Newbold in July 2023 when the trio was accused of trying to kill former Auburn football captain Robert Shiver .

The plot was foiled when local police, conducting an independent investigation into a break-in at the waterfront bar where Bethel worked, unearthed texts detailing the planned attack.

Lindsay Shiver allegedly sent a photo of her husband with another woman to Bethel and Newbold in a series of messages on WhatsApp, accompanied by the text “Kill him.”

“She sends the picture that was just sent to her,” Bethel told Good morning America. “When she found out he was there and the kids were home, she thought, 'Kill him'.”

Bethel defended his former lover's questionable message, claiming she wanted to know if Robert Shiver left their children unattended at their home on a Caribbean island.

“Nobody ever wanted him dead,” he insisted.

The Bahamian bartender maintained his innocence to the store when Lindsay Shiver returned to Nassau on Oct. 5 for a pretrial hearing.

“I am definitely not guilty of conspiracy to commit murder,” Bethel said. “And Faylo is not guilty of being an assassin.

“It’s time to let the world know we are innocent.”

Lindsay Shiver admitted to investigators that she sent frustrating messages after an argument with her husband, whom she married in 2010.

Bethel had downplayed the lyrics, saying: “Everyone says things out of frustration” and people take things “at face value.”

“None of us have anything to hide,” he told the Daily Mail last August.

“Whenever she gets into an argument with him, she tells me about it. Of course I'm angry about it, but are you planning to murder him? No,” Bethel said, laughing at the idea of him being an attempted murderer.

Shiver “led a double life” as she traveled frequently to the island of Abaco, where the family has a second home, and began an affair with Bethel, sources told The Post last August.

“She led a double life – this housewife from Georgia with the lovely children and the bad girl from the Bahamas. She got caught up in something really bad. It’s sad,” the source said.

Before the collapse of their marriage, the Shivers split their time between a million-dollar mansion in Thomasville, Georgia, and a luxury home in the exclusive Bahamian enclave of Baker's Bay.

The couple met when Robert Shiver was captain of the Auburn University football team in 2007.

The barman said his romance with Shiver was well known and they often vented to each other.

“It was no secret that we loved each other. She is still my best friend, we continue to care for each other no matter what, which also makes this case difficult to go through,” Bethel said.

Shiver, who has pleaded not guilty to her charges, remained with her parents in Alabama while awaiting trial in March. A judge in Georgia granted her permission to travel to the Peach State to visit her children.

Robert Shiver began dating Savannah Chrisley in September 2023 – two months after he survived the alleged murder-for-hire.

The Auburn star went undrafted in the 2009 NFL Draft but signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent after college. He later became executive vice president of the Senior Life Insurance Company.
