Accident causes injuries at Ohio-Michigan state line

OTTAWA LAKE, Mich. – Authorities were at the scene of a crash that left people injured in Monroe County Friday morning.

The accident occurred around 5 a.m. at the intersection of Memorial Highway and Green Road in Ottawa Lake and has since led to the road being closed. The crash occurred near the Ohio-Michigan state line.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office confirmed to WTOL 11 that the accident was a side-impact collision involving two vehicles. The vehicles collided at the intersection. One of the vehicles caught fire, but the fire has now been extinguished.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital. A driver may have been ejected from the vehicle, police said, but the driver told authorities he did not remember getting out of the car.

Both drivers were conscious when transported to the hospital.

Tow trucks are on site to remove the vehicles.
