Landmark Restaurant in Martin County is expected to close permanently next month | 1290 WJNO

A popular Florida restaurant that has served customers on the Treasure Coast for more than 70 years plans to close its doors for good.

A Facebook post from Harry and the Natives in Hobe Sound says it will be closing on October 12th “unless something happens.”

Restaurant owner Harry MacArthur blames increased food prices, increased labor costs and a decline in patrons since the COVID pandemic.

He says, “Everything is over” and they don’t have it anymore. MacArthur says he has received text messages and calls from people like Republican Congressman Brian Mast and other conservatives offering to hold fundraisers to save the restaurant.

Harry and the Natives has become known in recent years for its signs outside the restaurant supporting Governor DeSantis and sometimes criticizing President Biden.

MacArthur says he was trying to stimulate debate.
