Treasure Coast remains open after outpouring of support

HOBE SOUND, Fla. – A Treasure Coast location will now keep its doors open after announcing last week that it would be closing after 72 years.

Harry and the Natives in Martin County said financial challenges resulting from the COVID pandemic led to its original decision to close.

However, the level of support received last week caused owner Harry MacArthur to reconsider.

MacArthur told WPTV's Mello Styles on Thursday that customers have been in touch from near and far, even as far away as Thailand. He confirmed the business will continue to operate at its current location on Southeast Federal Highway and hopes the community will support it.

“We’re going to restructure and introduce a new menu,” MacArthur said. “We will appoint a four or five member board to review the place as it is clear I need improvements.”

He said he calls his customers and employees his friends and family and that he wants to remain open to them above all else.
