Shreveport man arrested for raping 14-year-old girl

SHREVEPORT, LA – SPD sex crimes detectives arrest man on rape charges

On September 26, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., an investigator with the Shreveport Police Department's Sex Crimes Unit was called to investigate a report involving a 14-year-old victim who stated she was killed by a 33-year-old to have been sexually abused by her husband.

After a thorough investigation, investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Akeem Reed on one count of second-degree rape. Reed was arrested on October 3, 2024.

If convicted, Reed could face up to 40 years in prison. Chief Wayne Smith praised the exceptional efforts of both patrol officers and detectives, stating, “This is another outstanding piece of work by our team as we protect the most vulnerable members of our community.”
