19-year-old arrested in shooting death of another 19-year-old in Hartwell

Well, it's been a busy night for the CINCINNATI Police Department, and four officers from the county are investigating a fatal shooting and an accident involving a police officer, all within two miles of each other. WLWT NEWS FIVE'S RICHARD CHILES IS LIVE AT DISTRICT FOUR HEADQUARTERS WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR THIS MORNING. GOOD MORNING. RICHARD. Well, TIFFANY, good morning, CINCINNATI Police District. Four officers work alongside the Homicide Squad and the Criminal Investigation Department as they investigate the city's latest murder. The shooting happened around 9:30 last night in Hartwell. CINCINNATI POLICE DISTRICT FOUR OFFICERS RESPOND TO VINE AND GALBRAITH. There, Cincinnati police told us that a 25-year-old man had been shot and killed. THIS VICTIM, NOT IDENTIFIED BY POLICE, NO INFORMATION NOT BEING RELEASED AT THIS TIME. As police continue their investigation, police say officers have brought a witness to the station for questioning. NOW, ABOUT THE SAME TIME, ABOUT 1.5 MILES down the road, there was an accident involving an ELMWOOD Police cruiser. NOW IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN AT THE INTERVISE OF VINE AND WEST 69TH STREET. This is in Carthage. NOW YOU CAN SEE THE DAMAGE AND DEPLOYMENT OF THE CRUISER AIRBAGS. NOT CLEAR AT THIS TIME. What caused the accident, but we know at least one other vehicle was involved. NOW. THE VEHICLE WAS SERIOUS. FRONT DAMAGE. Police are not saying if anyone was injured, and we're told the officer may have been responding to the shooting in HARTWELL when it happened. Now officers from CINCINNATI Police District FOUR were back at work with the Homicide and Criminal Investigation Division investigating the city's latest murder. A 19-year-old was arrested in the shooting death of another 19-year-old in July. It all happened on July 20 around 9:30 p.m. Saturday evening in Hartwell, on Vine Street, near Galbraith Road. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he later died. He was identified as Bairon Chaj, 19. On Thursday, police arrested 19-year-old Erik Evans for Chaj's murder. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 513-352-3542.

A 19-year-old was arrested in the July shooting death of another 19-year-old.

It all happened on July 20 around 9:30 p.m. Saturday evening in Hartwell, on Vine Street, near Galbraith Road.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he later died. He was identified as Bairon Chaj, 19.

On Thursday, police arrested 19-year-old Erik Evans for Chaj's murder.
