Manhunt underway for two carjacking suspects, incident leads to officer-involved shooting

MESQUITE (WBAP/KLIF News) – The manhunt continued Friday morning for two carjackings linked to an overnight chase and shooting in Mesquite.

Investigators said the incident began just after 10 p.m. at the Watermark Apartments on John West Road, west of Big Town Boulevard

Officers received a call about a carjacking and the victim told police that two armed men stole his vehicle.

Authorities said a Mesquite police officer spotted the car about an hour later and tried to stop it, but the driver drove off.

The driver ended up crashing into the Treymore Apartments a few blocks from the carjacking.

Mesquite police said the officer fired his weapon, but there was no indication that any of the suspects were hit.

Dallas police are investigating the officer-involved shooting because the shooting occurred in their service area.
