Bertie County drug raid captures marijuana, cocaine and firearms

BERTIE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Multiple law enforcement agencies worked together and arrested a man after finding nearly a pound and a half of drugs, nearly $12,000 in cash and a semi-automatic weapon.

On Wednesday, the Bertie County Sheriff's Office, along with the Down East Drug & Violent Crime Task Force (DEDVCTF) and the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI), searched a home on Rankins Street in Colerain.

Inside the home, they found 39-year-old Adrian Jones and nearly a pound of marijuana, 1.4 pounds of cocaine, $11,865 in cash and a semi-automatic pistol.

Jones is being held at the Bertie Martin Regional Jail under a $1 million bond and faces the following charges:

  • Felony: Possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Criminal possession with intent to sell/deliver and/or manufacture cocaine
  • Felony Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver and/or Manufacture Marijuana
  • Criminal cocaine trafficking
  • Felony mistaking a vehicle/dwelling/place for a controlled substance
  • Felony mistaking a vehicle/dwelling/place for a controlled substance
