Woman dies after suspected 'medical issue' leads to crash on I-15

BOUNTIFUL, Utah, October 4, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) – The Utah Highway Patrol says a woman who suffered a suspected “medical issue” that led to a crash on Interstate 15 on Thursday died in the hospital after the crash .

“At approximately 1:56 p.m., based on our initial investigation, we suspect an adult female experienced a medical issue while traveling southbound on I-15 near the 500 West exit in Bountiful,” said UHP Lt . Cameron Roden told Gephardt Daily.

“Their vehicle struck the side of the right guardrail and then crossed all lanes to the left. Then it sidestepped the left barrier and slid along it until it came to a stop.

“CPR was initiated and she was transported to the hospital. We were told she passed away at the hospital,” Roden said.

The accident caused a traffic jam on I-15 that lasted several hours and lasted into the afternoon rush hour.

The woman's name was not released.
