Red flag warning until 7pm on Wednesday. What is a Red Flag Warning? – ABC 6 News

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning through today (Wednesday, October 2) at 7:00 p.m. One of the most frequently asked questions is, “What is an alert?”

A Red flag warning is issued to alert everyone, whether individuals, contractors or other local government agencies, that weather conditions may result in widespread wildfires and/or control problems for existing wildfires and controlled fires.

In our case today, warmer than normal temperatures combined with low humidity and a strong, gusty southwesterly wind are leading to increased concerns about fire danger. The graphics below show conditions as of 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
