Man charged with attempted murder after driving from North Carolina to Zanesville – WHIZ

Zanesville, OH A man who Zanesville police say drove from Asheboro, North Carolina, to Zanesville after threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend is now behind bars.

Zanesville Police Detective Sgt. Phil Michel said Jamie Johnson was charged with four counts of threatening stalking with a firearm specification, violating a protection order with a firearm specification, four counts of improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle and one count of attempted murder charged with a firearm specification.

Authorities said on Oct. 2 that they were informed by the Randolph County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina that Johnson made his way to Zanesville with several firearms after threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend kill.

Zanesville police had a description of his vehicle and were looking for it. Police located the vehicle on Main Street later that evening and conducted a traffic stop. Johnson was taken into custody without incident. He is currently being held in the Zanesville City Jail on a $1 million bond. He will be arraigned on October 7th.
