Trump's response to Melania's abortion claim sparks outrage

Melania Trump has come out as a staunch supporter of the election – and her MAGA husband acts as if he agrees with her.

Ahead of the release of her upcoming memoir Melania, The former first lady posted a video on her X account in which she defended women's “individual freedom” to do what they want with their bodies.

“Individual freedom is a fundamental principle that I protect,” Melania said in one Clip published on Thursday. “There is no doubt that there is no room for compromise when it comes to this essential right that all women have from birth: individual freedom. What does “my body, my choice” really mean?”

This attitude was apparently completely fine with the aggressively anti-voting Republican presidential candidate. During an interview with Fox News On Thursday, Trump casually admitted that he had encouraged his wife to “write what you believe” in light of the new book.

“I said, 'You have to stay with your heart,'” Trump told the conservative broadcaster. “I told everyone: 'You have to go with your heart.' There are some people who are very, very right-wing on this issue, so without exception, and then there are others who see it a little differently.”

“I’m not going to tell you what to do,” Trump told Melania.

But that simple sentence was met with significant backlash from his critics, who argued that his campaign project, Project 2025, and the Republican Party had been working overtime to tell every other woman in America exactly what she should do with her body – whether that it is a fight for one… national abortion ban or celebrate Interference with government restrictions to other, adjacent reproductive procedures, such as IVF.

“Oh, so Melanie has a choice, but millions of other women don’t. Got it,” posted The Atlantic Writer Jemele Hill.

“However, he has no problem with states telling their daughters what to do with their bodies.” posted National Security Attorney Bradley Moss.
