Katie Santry TikTok Videos: Columbus Police Investigating

Katie Santry had recently started digging holes in her yard to install a fence. When she and her husband went digging recently, they noticed something unusual.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus police spent Friday morning digging outside a home in east Columbus after a woman found what was believed to be a rug in her yard. Her discovery went viral after she posted a series of TikTok videos and viewers told her to contact the police.

After spending hours inside the home with multiple units, the Columbus Police Department said no remains were found and the excavation was over. No further details were disclosed.

Katie Santry, who lives in the home, originally posted a video on TikTok in which she said she believed her home was haunted after she woke up one morning to find her laptop screen broken and other things on hers desk had been moved.

Santry had recently started digging holes in her yard to install a fence. When she and her husband went digging recently, they noticed something unusual.

“Back here… we dug a hole. There is a rolled up carpet under the ground that we came across while digging this hole,” Santry said in a TikTok video.

From there, the spiral of TikTok users began.

“I jokingly said on TikTok that maybe the body in the carpet was a ghost and it broke my computer,” Santry said.

As tens of thousands of people around the world became interested in Santry's story, she began to take a closer look.

“So a tree was planted over the carpet and they called it 'Bloodgood' because it was in the hole,” Santry said in a TikTok video.

Santry said she wanted to fill the void and move on, but TikTok users said more needed to be done.

“I was about to leave, and then TikTok was like, you have to figure it out, you have to call the police, so I did, and when they first came out, they really didn't think anything of it,” Santry said .

On Monday, police came to Santry's home to take a look. Detectives returned to Santry's home Thursday evening with K-9 rifles to take a closer look.

“I thought there was maybe a 0.005% chance that something would happen,” Santry said.

Santry streamed part of the investigation on TikTok on Thursday afternoon. More than 100,000 users tuned in at one point to watch as she showed a video of the K-9s sniffing around her yard.

At one point, Santry observes the dog sniffing a spot and then sitting down. You can hear her panting in the video.

Santry said she knew immediately what that signal from the K-9 could mean.

“If they're sitting, that means something, right?” Santry asked one of the investigating officers: “Usually,” the officer replied.

A little later, a second K-9 was also seen in the same location.

“They said there was still a chance there was blood on that carpet. “That doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a body in my backyard,” Santry said in a TikTok.

Columbus police said they had no conclusive findings.
