15-year-old on off-road motorcycle dies in accident with delivery driver in Otis

OTIS, Ore. (KPTV) – A teenager died in a crash in Otis Thursday afternoon, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

Just after 12:30 p.m., officers responded to a crash between a dirt bike and a FedEx delivery truck on North Maple Drive. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the driver of the dirt bike, a 15-year-old boy whose name was not released, dead.

The sheriff's office says the van driver immediately called 911 after the accident and tried to help the teen. The driver is cooperating with the investigation.

An investigation revealed the teen was traveling east on North Maple Drive, a one-lane county road, while the delivery driver was traveling west and both vehicles collided head-on.

The sheriff's office said the investigation into the accident is ongoing, but there is no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role.
