A 28-year-old murder defendant was given a December trial date in Baltimore City Circuit Court on Oct. 4.

Timothy Knott is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in a violent crime, attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, use of a firearm in a violent crime, possession of a firearm with conviction and possession of a handgun against him for an April 29 murder.

Prosecutors submitted an offer of life in prison with all but 50 years suspended, with five years probation for first-degree murder and two concurrent 20-year sentences for use of a firearm in a serious violent crime and attempted second-degree murder. Defense attorney Staci Pipkin declined the offer on behalf of her client.

As of Friday's hearing, the prosecution had not yet provided the defense with all of the evidence. She said there were still outstanding body-worn camera footage and some audio files that she still needed to review and edit before she could provide them to the defense.

Judge Melissa K. Copeland set Knott's trial to begin four days later, Dec. 16. It has not yet appointed a judge to preside over the trial.
