Davante Adams trade: NFL team fits Raiders' star receiver

The Davante Adams era in Las Vegas was never going to make sense for long. A Raiders team that entered the 2021 postseason on the strength of a winning streak against teams with injured or weakened quarterbacks had an inflated opinion of how close it was to contention. Adams was supposed to be reunited with Derek Carr, his quarterback from his time at Fresno State, but after a year, the Raiders parted ways with Carr and began rotating through replacement-level passers. The Josh McDaniels regime, which traded for Adams in 2022, was fired shortly thereafter.

Now Adams could follow his former coach outside. Reports on Tuesday said the Raiders would consider trading Adams, which would end his tenure with Vegas after just over two seasons. As a player who turns 32 in December and has Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell as quarterback options, Adams may not be eager to spend another year in football purgatory.
