New Video Shows Otter Hunting Bremerton Family for Attacked Child – KIRO 7 News Seattle

BREMERTON, Wash. – A new video shows a family in Bremerton being chased off a dock by a sea otter.

The video was taken in mid-September, shortly after the mother said the animal attacked her and her young child.

According to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), the otter grabbed a child and dragged him underwater.

The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on September 12 at the Bremerton Marina.

None of the videos KIRO 7 obtained from the Port of Bremerton show the actual attack, but in one clip the mother and her child can be seen running down the dock.

The group appears to gather for a few moments before leaving the area.

Once you get up the exit ramps you can see an otter hopping on the dock again.

A few days after the attack, WDFW told KIRO that in most cases these animals tend to avoid people.

The child was taken to the hospital for treatment for bites and scratches.

Meanwhile, WDFW said it caught and killed an otter in the area and is testing it for rabies.
