Weather Impact Warning: There is a risk of strong wind and dust storms on Friday

Wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour are expected on Friday and there is a risk of another round of dust storms.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Another wave of strong winds and blowing dust is expected to impact the Inland Northwest region on a dry Friday. The meteorologists at KREM 2 classified Friday as one Weather warning day due to the risk of strong winds and dust storms in the northwest of the country.

NWS Spokane has also issued a number of warnings. A Note on blowing dust will be issued for the Spokane area and all of Central Washington on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. due to wind gusts increasing to 40 mph and a risk of dust storms. This is supplemented by a Wind warning for the Pullman and Lewiston areas during the same period. Wind gusts reach speeds of up to 80 km/h in this region.

It's important to know that dust blows and dust storms tomorrow are not only likely, but most likely, on the Palouse, where the highest wind speeds occur. No matter what type of warning you are under, be aware that there is a risk of dust storms and poor visibility on our local highways and highways.
