Police say a man has been charged with a shooting following a drug deal

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A man was arrested and charged following a drug deal that led to a shooting on Monday, September 16, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

Police responded to the 4900 block of Vineyard Lane on a report of shots fired on Sept. 16.

According to WPD, warrants were issued for Quashon Nixon, 31, of Wilmington, and a partner agency eventually located him near Houston Moore on Wednesday, October 2, and arrested him.

He was accused of the following:

  • attempted armed robbery
  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
  • A firearm was fired into an occupied vehicle five times
  • Possession of a firearm by convicted felon

He was then charged with the following because he was allegedly found in possession of a stolen handgun and cocaine when he was arrested:

  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Possession of a stolen firearm
  • Felony carrying a concealed handgun
  • Possession of cocaine

He is being held in the county jail without bail.
