A year later, a man was charged with murder in a fatal shooting in Louisville

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder Death of a 43-year-old man in Louisville According to the authorities, as early as 2023.

On August 30, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office obtained an arrest warrant for Samuel Dontez Lewis, 36, of Midville.

According to authorities, he is accused of murdering Roosevelt Alexander Jr., the victim who was shot in the early morning hours of June 2, 2023.

At around 2:45 a.m., Jefferson County Emergency Services said it received a call for help about a man who had been shot.

Officers said they arrived within minutes and found the victim dead outside a residence in the 1100 block of Wren Lane.

Lewis was arrested Wednesday in Palm Beach, Florida.

He will be extradited from Florida to the Jefferson County Jail at a later date, officials said.
