Orangeburg County Sheriff Arrests Trio for Shoplifting

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WOLO)– Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced that a trio of shoplifters he confronted and prosecuted will see out their days in court.

According to an incident report, on September 13th at approximately 6:30 p.m., Sheriff Ravenell was at a Dollar General near the intersection of Highways 301 and 176 where he confronted three people about shoplifting

While pursuing the trio, Orangeburg County sheriff's deputies joined the sheriff in the vehicle pursuit after the men entered a vehicle and sped from the store.

The three were taken into custody several miles later at a residence on Hat Lady Lane.

On Thursday, October 4, Jacques Weston, 20, of Orangeburg, and Jamauris Robinson, 20, of Cameron, were found guilty at trial of shoplifting.

According to investigators, they were each sentenced to a fine or a prison sentence.

Charges of failure to stop for blue lights, possession of a Schedule II narcotic, shoplifting under $2,000 and criminal conspiracy are pending against 21-year-old Andre Linton of Orangeburg.
