Moped driver killed in Grand Rapids crash

GRPD's initial investigation revealed that the moped driver ran a stop sign and was struck by a vehicle traveling on Giddings Ave. SE headed north.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) is investigating a crash that killed a moped driver Friday afternoon.

Police said officers responded to the scene of an accident in the 1300 block of Sherman St. SE around 3:30 p.m. Friday.

GRPD's initial investigation revealed that the moped driver ran a stop sign and was struck by a vehicle traveling on Giddings Ave. SE headed north.

The moped driver was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died shortly afterwards.

Officials said no other injuries were reported in the crash and that the other driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.
