GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Keilana Brunette was sentenced to six years in prison Friday for her actions following a murder at an Ashwaubenon apartment.

The 22-year-old brunette was convicted of three counts of aiding and abetting a felon and three counts of obstructing an officer in connection with the March 1, 2023 murder of Braxton Phillips at an Ashwaubenon apartment. According to the complaint, she destroyed evidence and obstructed police.

Prez Wade was convicted of first-degree manslaughter for the incident at Creekwood Apartments. Sentencing is scheduled for November 22nd.

At Friday's hearing before Judge Beau Liegeois, Brunette was also placed under extended supervision for five years, followed by a five-year probation sentence.

Before the verdict was announced, Brunette apologized for her role in the case.

According to a 37-page criminal complaint, Prez admitted to the shooting when police questioned him eight days after the murder and said it was an accident.

“Prez stated that he was sitting while holding his left arm up as if he had his arm around (Phillips) and holding his right hand as if Prez was holding a gun. Prez said, “I pulled the trigger, boom” and then (Phillips) started screaming, got up and ran to the door. Prez stated that he just sat there in shock because he thought (Phillips) was faking something. Prez said (Phillips) ran to the door and said, “I'm shot.” [*****]”,' ran back from him and dropped,” the complaint states.

A witness told police that Prez was upset with Phillips because he was in contact with Brunette, the mother of Wade's child.

“Prez told him that he had thought about shooting (Phillips) before it actually happened. WITNESS 1 stated that (Phillips) began to become involved in the relationship between Prez and Keilana,” the complaint states.

The same witness told police there were two guns in the apartment, but Wade made sure the one Phillips had was empty so he couldn't shoot back, the complaint says.
