Joy Behar hits out at “View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin and says she's going to be a Republican again

Joy Behar celebrated her birthday episode of The view by giving the audience a playfully shady gift when she called out one of her co-hosts on the show.

Three days before her actual 82nd birthday, the comedian urged viewers on Friday's episode to put political differences aside to save American democracy before the country goes to the polls in November following the defeat of conservative politician Liz Cheney Presidential candidate Kamala Harris spoke at a rally on Thursday and expressed her support for the Democrats.

“Just do it this one time, do it this one time. Vote Democrats to save the country. Listen to Liz Cheney,” Behar said in her post at the Hot Topics table before turning to her Republican co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, who previously worked in the White House under Donald Trump. “When everything goes back to normal, become a Republican again, like Alyssa will be.”

Griffin, 35, chuckled at the reference before fellow Republican panelist Ana Navarro – who has famously clashed with Griffin in the past – told the audience that “we're not at the point of talking about political differences right now.” and that Harris is “not running against a normal person” in Trump.

Griffin later jumped in to defend himself.

“I want to say that I'm still a Republican, and I don't think it's my job to tell people how to vote, but to give them the facts,” she said. “Having worked closely with him, I have facts that you may not know. I feel like this is my duty to the country.”

Although there is largely a cordial relationship between Behar and Griffin on air, the former has lightly attacked Griffin in the past.

In February, Griffin spoke about how her co-hosts regularly questioned her decision not to stand steadfastly behind Joe Biden when he was still on the Democratic ticket, admitting that during the vote she was “worried that Biden will lose to Trump.”

“Not if people like you don’t vote for him,” Behar replied, later adding: “You and Liz, after Griffin — who hasn’t formally endorsed any candidate — stressed that she didn’t want Trump to be president again.” Cheney and all of you Trumpers never have to vote for Biden.”

The view airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/PT on ABC.
