Milwaukee man convicted of killing manager at South Milwaukee Pizza Hut

Kavonn Ingram, the Milwaukee man who pleaded guilty to killing his co-worker at the South Milwaukee Pizza Hut, was sentenced Oct. 4 to 45 years in prison.

Ingram was sentenced to 40 years in prison for first-degree manslaughter and then to five years in prison for being a felon and possessing a firearm. He will then be eligible for 15 years of extended supervision, online court records show.

A compensation hearing – where the court determines how much a defendant must pay to compensate the victim(s) – has been requested and is scheduled for November 21.

Ingram, 31, pleaded guilty Aug. 19 to the two counts for which he was convicted. Plea negotiations resulted in two other charges – concealing a corpse and armed robbery – being dismissed but were read, according to online court records.

What happened?

On February 7, police are shown near the Pizza Hut in south Milwaukee.

The body of 55-year-old manager Alex Stengel was found Feb. 7 in a garbage truck at the South Milwaukee Pizza Hut property, 124 N. Chicago Ave.

Police said Stengel had both gunshot and stab wounds, the criminal complaint states. Officers found a trail of blood from the restaurant to the landfill, leading them to believe Stengel was killed in the kitchen.
