Disappointed New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers sat back and placed a towel over his face for a 50-yard field goal attempt after his team's 10-9 loss to the Denver Broncos last Sunday by Greg Zuerlein failed on a rainy afternoon.

In an interview with Rodgers published Friday, NFL Network's Kyle Brandt referenced that image, noting how Jets fans on social media said this was the moment the four-time NFL MVP officially became a member of the long-suffering franchise be. He then asked if Rodgers could cure the “same old Jets disease.”

“I don’t know,” Rodgers replied. “I think it takes a collective effort. All of us, including the fan base, just need to have a little faith. I also understand what this organization has been through, and we need to win consistently to turn this tide around.”

The Jets won Super Bowl III in January 1969 and haven't been to the Big Game since. Since then, there have been mostly losing seasons, with occasional years of hope. Since 2011, which began a 13-year streak outside the playoffs, it's been more of the former than the latter.

However, the 2024 season has certainly brought hope with a healthy Rodgers leading the team. However, New York is off to an uneven 2-2 start, punctuated by an ugly loss to the Broncos, who emerged victorious despite quarterback Bo Nix throwing for just 60 yards.

However, the story of this season has not yet been written.

The Jets could quickly get back on track on Sunday when they beat the undefeated Minnesota Vikings 4-0 in London. Kick-off is at 9:30 a.m. ET at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
