Warharks fight hard but lose 3-1 to the Jaguars

MOBILE, Al- The ULM volleyball team lost a hard-fought first game 3-1 (25-16, 16-25, 25-19, 25-20) to South Alabama on Friday night.

The Warhawks (4-11 overall, 0-3 Sun Belt) started set one with a 3-1 score before the Jaguars (5-8 overall, 1-2 Sun Belt) scored the next eight points to claim one secured a clear lead. The USA used the momentum for the rest of the set and took a 1-0 lead.

The Jaguars took a 4-3 lead in the second set. The Warhawks responded with an 8-2 scoring run to take an 11-6 lead. Another 8-1 run by ULM gave them control of the set. South Alabama cut the lead to just eight before a ULM attack error secured the set.

After falling behind 4-3 early in the third set, the Jaguars used a 7-1 run to take a 10-5 lead. The Warhawks got within three points with a 4-1 run, but were as close as they could be for the rest of the set. The USA took a 2-1 lead in the fourth set.

After a score of 9-6, ULM scored five goals in a row and took control. With the score tied at 15, two runs of 4-1 and 4-0 put South Alabama in control. A final kill ended the first game and handed ULM its third loss in the Sun Belt Conference.
