Man charged in fatal drunk driving crash arrested for violating release conditions – InForum

WAHPETON, N.D. – A Wahpeton man accused of hitting and killing a young woman in a drunk driving accident has been arrested for violating the conditions of his release.

Chad Olson, 53, was booked into the Richland County Jail on Friday evening, Oct. 4, for violating the conditions of his release.

He was booked on Friday around 7 p.m.

WDAY-TV reports that Olson was monitoring his home via GPS, left his home and was seen driving.

Olson is accused of hitting 20-year-old Bailey Bernstein with his pickup truck on October 12, 2023, as she was walking down the street with her mother and leaving the scene.

Olson is expected to plead guilty and be sentenced on Tuesday, October 8th.

He faces up to 20 years in prison for vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.
