Man dead, two in hospital after motorcycle crash on New Cut Road

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, a man is upside down after a motorcycle accident on New Cut Road Friday night.

Officers responded to a report of an accident at the intersection of New Cut Road and Orchard Hill Drive just before 10 p.m., LMPD spokesman Aaron Ellis said.

Preliminary investigation shows a man on a motorcycle was traveling south on New Cut Road at what was believed to be a high rate of speed when it crashed into the side of an SUV that was turning onto New Cut Road from Iroquois Park. Ellis said the man was thrown from the motorcycle onto the road.

According to police, EMS pronounced the man dead upon arrival. The driver and passenger in the SUV were injured and taken to UofL Hospital, where they are expected to survive.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is handling the ongoing investigation. The above area on New Cut Road will be closed as investigators reconstruct the crime scene.
