Serious drug offender caught with over 300 grams of narcotics and firearms in Belmont County

A Cleveland man was arrested in Barnesville earlier this week after a search warrant turned up illegal drugs and stolen firearms.

Dajuan “Ox” Fields, 39, was arrested for possession of more than 200 grams of fentanyl and more than 100 grams of cocaine. Two stolen firearms were also found.

According to Belmont County Sheriff David Lucas, Fields is a serious drug offender under Ohio law.

“This individual was identified by us as a 'high risk' individual and that's why the Special Operations Division was activated because that's what they're here for,” Lucas said.

Lucas says the department is glad to have Fields in custody for safety reasons.

“This is just another case of nothing but good police work by the other agency and us working together to get this person off the streets,” he said.

Fields faces charges of possession and trafficking in cocaine and fentanyl, as well as two counts of possession of a firearm while under disability and receiving stolen property.

The Belmont County Prosecutor will set a date for his arraignment and any additional charges.
