Pixar artist Matt Nolte directed this indie music video “Hell Or High Water.”

The “Hell or High Water” music video is a freshly shot stop-motion passion project created for Mike Campbell, former guitarist of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

The film was shot in atmospheric black and white and conveys a distinctly Western cinematic atmosphere. It tells the story of an intimate, fateful night in a small hotel where a lonely guitar player and a mysterious woman cross paths. Their encounter, set against a backdrop of music and whiskey, unfolds in a “he said/she said” narrative that leaves plenty of room for interpretation.

The lo-fi visual aesthetic—made from cardboard and various handmade cutout materials—elegantly reflects the uncertain, winding journey of the video's flawed and problematic characters.
