Man pleads guilty to murder and rape

A man who shot a woman in January and then raped her teenage daughter pleaded guilty Tuesday to multiple charges and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Frank Hayes Walters IV, 26, of Bascom Road in Sylvania, pleaded guilty to four counts of murder and rape, aggravated child abuse, kidnapping, aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, financial transaction card theft and financial transaction card fraud, said Michael Muldrew, assistant district attorney for the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit. Walters shot 34-year-old Deidra Thompson , of Swallowtail Drive, five times after an argument Jan. 13, Muldrew said. Walters then used a second weapon when he sexually abused her then-15-year-old daughter before kidnapping her and taking her to another county. Bulloch County Superior Court Judge William T. Woodrum sentenced Walters to five life terms plus 46 years. He received a life sentence without parole on the murder charge.
