14-year-old killed, 4 other teens hospitalized in Wayne County crash

CANAAN TOWNSHIP – A 14-year-old Creston resident was killed in a car accident in Canaan Township on Friday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Wooster Post.

One of the passengers, Aurora Krahenbuhl, died from her fatal injuries at the scene of the accident, patrol police reported. Four other teenagers were also hospitalized.

Police reported that at 4:14 p.m., a 2007 Honda Civic driven by a 17-year-old was traveling north on Canaan Center Road near East Sterling Road. The Honda lost control, veered off the right side of the road and struck a ditch and two scenic islands before overturning several times before coming to final rest.

The driver was transported by ambulance to Wooster Community Hospital for minor injuries.

Three other passengers in the Honda were injured in the accident.

A 15-year-old passenger was transported by ambulance to Wooster Community Hospital with serious injuries; and then transported by ambulance to Akron Children's Hospital. Two other passengers, a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old, were taken to Lodi Hospital, with the latter going to Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital with minor injuries.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have contributed to the accident.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Canaan Township Fire/EMS, Sterling Fire/EMS, Town and Country Fire Department, Lodi EMS, Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Wayne County Coroner and TNT Towing.

The crash is still under investigation. All charges still require further investigation.
