Joel Kinnaman says he would “never appear on a show like” HBO's “Peacemaker” to reprise the role of Rick Flag Jr.; James Gunn Teases Frank Grillo's Rick Flag Sr.

Joel Kinnaman wants DC Comics fans to believe that he won't be reprising his role as Rick Flag Jr. on HBO's Peacemaker.

Kinnaman first appeared in the DCEU film Suicide Squad in 2016 and reprized his role in James Gunns The Suicide Squad in 2021.

Although Kinnaman's character was killed off in the 2021 film, there are rumors that he would appear in Gunn's film Peacemaker Season 2, giving continuity to this timeline. Earlier this year, HBO series director Peter Sollett tagged Kinnaman in a show wrap-up post (later deleted), suggesting that Rick Flag Jr. would show up somehow.

“I don't know what to say. This is ridiculous,” Kinnaman said Screenrant about returning to the DC Universe. “I would never do that. I would never be on a show like that. It's not what I do. That’s not what I do.”

Direct current and HBO have not yet revealed whether Kinnaman will guest star in the new season of “Guest Star.” peacemaker, and the actor's reaction to the rumors Some fans speculated it was a way to throw everyone off.

In a new interview, the co-head of DC Studios told EW that Rick Flag Sr. in “Supermanand he is a incredibly important part of Peacemaker. He is one of the main characters in Season 2 of Peacemaker. So we get to see this character from different angles, and it’s not easy.”

Frank Grillo will play Rick Flag Sr., making his first appearance in the animated series Creature CommandsPremieres in the fall on Max.

“This isn’t just a good guy, not at all,” Gunn said. “We see all the different sides of his character. He is a morally complex person. Grillo is someone I've known for a while and wanted to work with for a long time. He was one of the first people I talked to when I took over the studio: “We’ll find something cool for you,” and now he’s everywhere.”
