Leaked image from SALEM'S LOT shows first look at head vampire Kurt Barlow

After a series of lengthy delays, the remake (or re-adaptation) of Stephen King's film is released by Warner Bros. and New Line Salem's property is now streaming on Max and a first look at this latest version of the novel's lead vampire, Kurt Barlow, has leaked online.

In the book, Barlow was described as a fairly ordinary-looking middle-aged man, but the character was reimagined for Tobe Hooper's '70s miniseries as a bald, pale, Nosferatu-inspired monster. Then, in the 2004 adaptation, the late Rutger Hauer played a take on the evil vampire that was much more faithful to the source material.

As you can see in the image below, this new Barlow is at least somewhat inspired by the creature we met in the original miniseries – although this version looks even more monstrous.

Barlow is used in the same way as in Hooper's film, but has slightly more screen time (he also speaks) and plays a larger role in the film's final act than in previous adaptations. Check back later for more information on our full spoiler breakdown.
