Suspect arrested and charged with apparent murder in Enosburgh

ENOSBURGH, Vt. (WCAX) – An Enosburgh man is now behind bars facing multiple charges, including attempted second-degree murder, for allegedly killing his father and beating his mother with a baseball bat Friday morning.

Vermont State Police announce that they have formally arrested 29-year-old Jordan Lawyer on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree aggravated domestic violence. They also identified the victims as 54-year-old Todd Lawyer and 58-year-old Robin Lawyer.

According to Vermont State Police, it began around 8:45 a.m. Friday with a report of a disturbance at a home on West Enosburgh Road near Tyler Branch Road. Responding police found the body of a man outside the house, now known to be Todd Lawyer. A woman, Robin Lawyer, was also taken to hospital with serious injuries. According to police, her condition is stable.

Jordan Lawyer, her son, was taken into custody by police around 11:20 a.m. Friday morning after leading authorities on a short chase that began in Bakersfield and followed a collision with a Vermont game warden in downtown Enosburgh ended. At the time, Jordan Lawyer was merely in custody as law enforcement investigated his connection to the incident.

Jordan Lawyer is being held without bail ahead of his arraignment scheduled for Monday, October 7. An autopsy is underway to determine the cause and manner of Todd Lawyer's death.
