CT Town has parking restrictions for the Apple Harvest Festival

Officials say there will be limited parking in Southington over the next two weekends as the 2024 Apple Harvest Festival prepares for another season.

On the weekends of Friday, Oct. 4, through Sunday, Oct. 6, and Friday, Oct. 11, through Sunday, Oct. 13, officials said the following streets will be marked “No Parking” on both sides of the street:

  • Merrell Ave.
  • Oak St.
  • Academy Ln.
  • Academy St.
  • North Liberty St
  • Vermont Ave.
  • Vermont Territory
  • High St.
  • Hobart St.
  • Center St.
  • center pl.
  • Center Crt.
  • Columbus Ave.
  • Eden Ave
  • Liberty St.
  • Chestnut St.
  • Mill St. (North Main St to Water St.)
  • Berlin Ave. (Main St to Highwood Ave.)
  • North Main St. (Center St. to Mill St.)
  • West Center St. (Summer St. to Howard Ave.)
  • Woodruff St. (Berlin Ave. to Pleasant St.)

Additionally, additional streets will be designated “No Parking” for the Apple Festival parade on Sunday, October 6th (with a rain date of Sunday, October 13th):

  • Summer St.
  • Cowles Ave.
  • Elm St.
  • Church of St.
  • Beecher St.
  • Matthews St.
  • Eden Pl.
  • West Main St.
  • Bristol St
  • Knowles Ave.
  • Chestnut St.
  • S. Center St.
  • Water St.
  • Main Street
  • Speechley Ave.
  • Prospect St. (West St. to Summer St.)

“Access to Cowles Ave., Prospect St., Summer St. and Elm St. will be closed at 11 a.m. on parade day,” a statement said. “The streets listed will have these special parking restrictions in effect from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on parade day. All violators will be subject to a $35 fine and/or vehicle towed.”

Additionally, the fireworks display beginning at the dog park on Saturday, October 5th (with a rain date of Saturday, October 12th) will open the park from 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. the following day, October 6th, according to the statement. October, keep closed. The section of Mill Street between North Main Street and Water Street will be closed from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m

“It should be noted that during parade and festival times, northbound and southbound traffic will be detoured on Route 10,” the statement said. “On parade day, northbound traffic on Route 10 will be detoured onto Meriden Avenue and southbound traffic will be detoured onto Hobart Street. During normal festival hours, northbound traffic on Route 10 will be detoured onto Berlin Avenue and southbound traffic on Route 10 will be detoured onto High Street.”
