ONE CHAMPIONSHIP: Regian Eersel reclaims the lightweight kickboxing title at Fight Night 25

Regian Eersel and Alexis Nicolas made it for the second time at ONE Fight Night 25 on Saturday.

The duration of the fight was identical to their first meeting, but the result was different: the Dutch fighter was crowned winner and reclaimed his lightweight kickboxing title.

Eersel was very aggressive in this rematch at Lumpinee Stadium, charging forward while also throwing punches and knees. This forced Nicolas to fight in retreat, and he spent the beginning of the battle in retreat mode.

Eersel set a rapid pace and the occasional hard counterattack from Nicolas directly to the body didn't seem to slow him down. The Dutchman was clearly ahead in the first two rounds, but Nicolas increased his lead again in the third round.

The final exchanges were closer and both men raised their hands at the end, but it was the Dutchman who got the nod. Two of the judges had Eersel winning 48-47, while the third had him a slightly larger margin at 49-46.
