DUI arrest following a multi-vehicle accident on I-91 in Rocky Hill

A driver was arrested for drunken driving after a fatal crash on I-91 South in Rocky Hill.

ROCKY HILL, Conn. – At 8:48 p.m., Connecticut State Police responded to a multi-vehicle crash on I-91 South near Exit 23 in Rocky Hill.

Three vehicles were involved in the accident, with the driver of vehicle 1 being killed. According to police, the driver was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.

According to police, the collision began when Vehicle 3 veered from the left lane into the left center lane and struck Vehicle 1. Both cars overturned, vehicle one went into the right lane and crashed into vehicle 2.

Several drivers involved suffered minor injuries and were transported to area hospitals, according to police.

The investigation revealed that the driver of vehicle 3 was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

The accused driver was arrested for violating Connecticut General Statute 14-227-A and released on $50,000 bail.

They are scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on October 25, 2024.

Authorities are seeking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to assist with the ongoing investigation.
