Convicted felon arrested in Utah for mail robbery, drug and gun trafficking

A 35-year-old man was taken into custody after he faced two federal charges related to a mail robbery and drug and weapons charges in Utah while on probation for previous crimes.

Andres “Junior” Garcia, a Salt Lake City resident, made his first court appearance on Friday, October 4, after being arrested in September 2024. The indictment accuses him of robbing a U.S. Postal service van and trafficking illegal drugs and firearms.

According to court documents, Garcia allegedly stole mail from a U.S. Postal Service mailbox in February 2024 and threatened a postal worker when he was confronted. He reportedly reached into his sweatshirt, indicated he had a gun and told the worker to “come back” before fleeing the scene with the mail.
