Motion to Hold Tiffany Henyard in Contempt of Court Denied by Judge – NBC Chicago

Note: The video in the player above is from a previous report.

A Cook County judge rejected a lawyer's request to hold Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard and newly appointed Police Chief Ronnie Burge Sr. in contempt of court, leaving a temporary restraining order in place.

The attorney representing several trustees on the Dolton Village Board claimed Henyard ignored the injunction blocking recently appointed officials from taking office.

Henyard's appointments were not approved by Dolton's trustees.

The injunction originally issued remains in effect, meaning Henyard's appointees are still unable to take office.

The attorney representing the majority of Dolton's trustees said Burge was not complying with the injunction and claimed he refused to turn over his keys, badge and uniform to the village's police department.

The lawsuit also alleges that Henyard interfered with the duties of Keith Freeman, Dolton's current village manager.

Henyard is at the center of multiple investigations and lawsuits, including an ongoing federal grand jury investigation that began in November 2023. In the latest twist, a Cook County judge ruled that recently hired employees would not be allowed to work at Village Hall because the appointments violated both the Illinois Municipal Code and the Dolton Village Code.

The next status hearing on this issue is scheduled for November 7 at 11 a.m.
