Since I write about food trends, I spend more time than I'd like to admit scrolling through social media to see what everyone else is eating. From mozzarella sticks with sauce at Chili's to upgraded boxed macaroni and cheese at the grocery store, my family is pretty used to me telling them we're trying the latest viral food item for dinner. Recently, I made one of my strangest requests by texting my teenage son: “Can we watch a movie on AMC this afternoon?” I have to order that pizza nacho thing I saw on TikTok. “

Always ready for my important work-related taste tests, my 16-year-old son grabbed us tickets to The Wild Robot and we jumped in the car. I had seen a post on the AMC Theaters TikTok account that had stuck with me for days: a hybrid combination of pepperoni pizza and cheesy nachos that has become something of a viral off-menu special for the theater chain.

In the less than 10-second video clip posted by AMC in celebration of National Pepperoni Pizza Day and National Queso Day, moviegoers create an amazing Franken dish using a pepperoni flatbread pizza, nacho cheese and pickled jalapeños. These items are all available in the AMC menu, but not together as a specific item. Official or not, this pepperoni pizza with queso and jalapeño toppings looked delicious and I knew I had to try it for myself.

How to order queso and jalapeño pizza at AMC

Ordering the ingredients for the TikTik famous pizza dish was easy. First, I ordered a pepperoni flatbread ($10) from the AMC snack bar and then asked for a side of nacho cheese ($2) and a side of jalapeños. When I ordered these items, I learned that jalapeños are free at AMC, making this delicious movie theater snack only $12.

After my pepperoni flatbread was baked by theater staff, I stepped aside and began combining the ingredients to make my very own version of the nacho cheese topped pizza I'd seen on TikTok. All I had to do was pour a little nacho cheese over each slice, top them with jalapeños, and prepare to snack.

How does the Viral AMC Nacho Pizza taste?

This viral movie theater snack with a secret menu didn't disappoint. Pepperoni pizza is good enough on its own—savory and cheesy—but the addition of additional nacho cheese made the whole thing gooey and delicious. I'm a fan of spicy food, so adding jalepeños just sweetened it up for me. As an added bonus, I dipped my pizza crusts into the remaining nacho cheese sauce during the movie, creating a delicious little bread dip and sauce course to end my meal.

At $12, this unique combination of movie theater snacks felt like a bargain. Not only was there a ton of food for the price, but people entering the theater actually stopped me and asked me what kind of pizza I was carrying to my seat. Being able to tell moviegoers about a snack they didn't even know was available was fun and I was happy to let them in on my delicious secret.

Next time I visit AMC Theaters for food, I will definitely order this nacho topping pizza again. Additionally, placing this special order made me realize that there is an option to also order nacho cheese and jalapeños for other AMC treats like hot dogs and soft pretzels. Since I'm a believer in there's no such thing as too much queso, knowing that I can mix up AMC's snack menu with cups of delicious yellow nacho cheese is a real movie game-changer.
