Wake Forest is dealing with some serious injuries this week

Wake Forest's defense has had a difficult 2024 so far and is also banged up, which doesn't help.

Linebacker Branson Combs is fourth on the team with 23 tackles and missed Wake's game against Louisiana-Lafayette last weekend. Kevin Pointer is a starting defensive tackle who leads the Deacs with 4.5 TFL and 2.0 sacks. Considering how poor Wake's rush defense has been, losing depth up front is bad news.

Capone Blue is a starting player with 17 tackles on the year.

Demond Claiborne is the team's leading rusher, while receiver Donavon Greene is second on the team in receptions (16) and receiving yards (271).

Of course, each of the aforementioned players was listed on Wake's depth chart released Tuesday, because football coaches are going to do the football coaching thing. But it looks like Wake will be missing at least a few starters when he takes the field on Saturday afternoon.
