Man killed after being hit by truck near Phoenix gas station

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is dead after a shooting ended with him being run over by a vehicle near a gas station in Phoenix early Saturday morning.

According to Phoenix police, officers were initially called to a shooting near 35th Avenue and Union Hills Drive just after 1 a.m. When police arrived, they found a man lying on the ground near the gas station. He was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries.

Phoenix police said their helicopter spotted a truck in the area, not far from the scene of the alleged crime. The truck was stopped and several people were arrested.

According to witnesses, a shootout occurred between the group in the truck and the victim. However, the victim was run over by the truck driver after the shooting.

No other injuries were reported. It is unclear whether the man died from injuries sustained in the shooting or from being run over.

The victim has not been identified. Investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting.
