***All persons accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty.***

HAMMOND — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office (TPSO) was assigned to investigate two separate homicides on Friday, October 4th. Currently, one has resulted in an arrest while the other is ongoing.

Just before 9:30 p.m., TPSO was called to the 12000 block of Oak Hill Road in Kentwood for reports of a fight. Upon arrival, officers discovered that 38-year-old Renaldo Brumfield had fired multiple shots. He didn't survive.

Gerald Harvey, 41, was immediately identified as a suspect in the case. As of 11:30 p.m., Harvey was in custody on second-degree murder charges.

Earlier in the day, just before 9 a.m., the Independence Police Department (IPD) was called to an apartment complex on 1st Street for a report of an unresponsive person. When officers arrived at one of the duplex units, they found a female victim who appeared to have died from a gunshot wound. The IPD then requested that TPSO cooperate with the investigation.

This victim is 18-year-old Le'Airrah Dupard. At this point, investigators believe the victim was standing near the window of her home when a bullet entered through the window. She is not believed to have been the intended target.

TPSO and IPD are actively working on this investigation but could use the public's help. Anyone with information about this crime and/or those responsible can contact the Crime Stoppers at 985-902-2008.
