Injury report: Week 5 vs. 49ers

The Cardinals will have tight end Trey McBride back for Sunday's game in San Francisco, but not cornerback Garrett Williams. And kicker Matt Prater remains waiting.

Coach Jonathan Gannon said Prater, who suffered knee soreness, “will tell me if he's ready to go.” Prater showed up at practice on Friday. The Cardinals have kicker Chad Ryland on the practice squad and he expects to be elevated on Saturday, at least as a precaution.

Williams (groin) missed his third straight practice on Friday; Rookie Rabbit Taylor-Demerson is a candidate to fill some of the snaps Williams provided in the secondary.

Defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga (knee) and offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum (hamstring) are each listed as questionable after limited work on Friday.

For the 49ers, both linebacker Fred Warner (ankle) and tight end George Kittle (ribs) are questionable for the game after finally returning to practice on a limited basis.

Cornerback Garrett Williams has been one of the bright spots in the Cardinals' defense this season, and so his absence from practice for the second straight day due to a groin problem is an issue that will be in the spotlight as the Cards near the end of the week. The same goes for kicker Matt Prater, who also missed a second straight practice on Thursday due to a left knee injury and could use kicker Chad Ryland from the practice squad in San Francisco.

It was nice to see tight end Trey McBride (concussion) listed as a full participant and Kelvin Beachum (hamstring) back in the starting lineup in a limited capacity.

Defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga (knee) and offensive lineman Christian Jones (knee-IR) remained limited. Guard Isaiah Adams (thumb) was a DNP again.

For the 49ers, linebacker Fred Warner (ankle) missed a second straight practice, as did tight end George Kittle (ribs).

The Cardinals missed tight end Trey McBride due to his absence against the Commanders last week, but with an NFC West matchup on deck, McBride is leaning toward returning to action. He took limited part in practice Wednesday because he was out of concussion protocol and was not wearing a yellow jersey, meaning he is eligible for contact.

Previously, the Cardinals announced that they had signed former Patriots kicker Chad Ryland to their practice squad. This is because Matt Prater was not at practice on Wednesday. He is listed with a left knee injury.

Right tackle Kelvin Beachum warmed up with the team in the bubble but was listed as a non-participant. Cornerback Garrett Williams (groin) and offensive lineman Isaiah Adams (thumb) were also sidelined.

Defensive player Khyiris Tonga returned to training after missing last week. He wore a knee brace on his right leg. Speaking of returning, offensive rookie Christian Jones practiced for the first time since suffering an ankle injury in the preseason. He is still on injured reserve.

The 49ers' injury report is lengthy and is led by linebacker Fred Warner and tight end George Kittle. Warner was sidelined with an ankle injury while Kittle is dealing with a rib injury.
